Scholarship Opportunities |
|
There are five
scholarships given to outstanding seniors to further their education in
a Family and Consumer Sciences related area. To be eligible for a
scholarship, a student must be an FCCLA member in good standing and
active in their local chapter and must submit a complete application
before the due date. The local chapter is required to make a minimum
contribution to the state scholarship fund during the year of
application. |

Scholarship |
|
Christine Gentry-Carpenter
Scholarship
is
an endowment to provide financial support to Senior Occupational
students.
Christine Gentry-Carpenter, a former HERO Co-op teacher, was among the
first group of HERO teachers who helped define the HERO program and make
it what it is today. This
is a $1000 scholarship, which is granted for general educational
financial support. The recipient’s major field of study is not limited
to Family and Consumer Sciences Education however the recipient must be
enrolled in a HERO program.
This scholarship is available to students in chapters that have made a
one-time $100 donation to the Christine Gentry-Carpenter Memorial
Scholarship Fund

Barbara Border Scholarship |
|
Barbara Border Scholarship is named after the Home
Economics education program specialist and Director of Vocational Education at
the Arizona Department of Education who helped originate the HERO organization
in Arizona. This scholarship is for
students interested in pursuing a degree in Family and Consumer Sciences
Education at a post-secondary institution.
The recipient can renew the scholarship each year by completing the
Continuing Education Scholarship Form and submitting it to the Scholarship
Committee by the deadline. The
maximum value of the scholarship is $2,500.
This scholarship is available to students whose chapter has made a
minimum $50 donation to the Scholarship Fund during the current school year on
or before February 15.

Occupational Scholarships |
|
Occupational Scholarships
are
awarded to Senior Occupational students. The
funds for this scholarship are provided by the interest accrued on the
Occupational Scholarship Account. A minimum of 1 scholarship in the amount of
$750 or $500 will be given annually. The
scholarships will be granted for general educational financial support.
The recipient majoring in a Family and Consumer Sciences field will be
eligible for the $750 amount. Recipients that are not majoring in a Family and
Consumer Sciences field will be eligible for the $500 amount.
More than one scholarship may be granted based on the funds available in
the scholarship fund for that year. This
scholarship is available to students whose chapter has made a minimum $50
donation to the Scholarship Fund during the current school year on or
before February 15. |

Janet Grant Scholarship

Janet Grant Scholarship is
awarded to students who are enrolled as full-time students in the 11th
grade and who have been active members of FCCLA during the current
school year.
This $500.00 scholarship is in honor of a Family
and Consumer Sciences teacher who was a FCCLA advisor for 27 years.
This scholarship is granted for general educational
financial support. The recipient’s major field of study is not
limited to Family and Consumer Sciences.
The recipient must be enrolled as a full-time
student in a post-secondary or technical institution by the fall
following their senior year.
Upon proof of registration, the funds will be
released directly to the educational institute.
This scholarship is available to students whose
chapter has made a minimum $50.00 donation to the Scholarship fund
during the current school year on or before February 15. |

Dorcas Canary Scholarship |

Dorcas Canary Scholarship
is in honor of an Arizona Department of Education staff member who
gave 27 years of service in home economics. The
recipient must be enrolled as a full-time student in a
post-secondary or technical institution.
The number and amount of each scholarship awarded depends upon the
availability of funds. This scholarship is available to students
whose chapter has made a minimum $50 donation to the Scholarship
Fund during the current school year on or before February 15. |

Senior Comprehensive Scholarships |
|
Senior Comprehensive Scholarships are awarded to students who are enrolled
as full-time students in post-secondary schools. A minimum of 1 scholarship in
the amount of $750 or $500 will be given annually. The scholarships will be granted for general educational
financial support. The recipient in
a Family and Consumer Sciences major will be eligible for the $750 amount.
Recipients that are not in Family and Consumer Sciences field will be eligible
for the $500 amount. More than one
scholarship may be granted based on the funds available in the scholarship fund
for that year. These scholarships are available to students whose chapter has
made a minimum $50 donation to the Scholarship Fund during the current school
year on or before February 15.

Scholarships |

Junior Comprehensive
Scholarships
are
awarded to students who are enrolled as full-time students in 6-9th
grade. A minimum of 1
scholarship in the amount of a $100 credit for conferences will be given annually.
More than one scholarship may be granted based on the
funds available in the scholarship fund for that year. These
scholarships are available to students whose chapter has made a minimum
$25 donation to the Scholarship Fund during the current school year on
or before February 15. |
